What is our typical response? We will just scratch all the harder in front of them because we are defiant. No one is going to to tell us to stop itching  this is our body! This is our itch! But we can itch a cut, bruise, burn or bug bite until it bleeds. Worse yet we can scratch until we leave a permanent scar on the spot. Instead of “X” marks the spot the scar will mark the spot. The natural instinct is to itch when something itches. But this is not the best answer to the problem. What about finding a solution to stop the itching all together?   • Mix into the scalp and let the scalp and let the mixture sit for five minutes in the scalp.
  • Follow this treatment with a gentle hair shampoo and conditioner.

Next, add the mix to warm running bath water not sizzling burn your skin to the touch running bath water.

An alternative method to cure jock itch is to replace the mixture with 4 drops of tea tree essential oil with 2 tablespoons of carrier oil (the same ones as mentioned above) then apply it to the affected skin with cotton ball. Allow the salve to absorb into the affected area before you blot off any excess salve.

The Topical Way

Be aware that it is a good practice to dilute any essential oil with a carrier oil before you apply it topically. Typically essential oils like lavender are milder and can be applied purely but it is always  wise to be cautious and dilute it with a carrier oil. This way you can avoid an adverse reaction which could complicate any skin issues you already have. For some reason if you are using an essential oil for the first time try it on a patch area of the skin. You will be able to see if you have an allergic reaction or not. If your skin shines then you can apply the full dose.

Cold Compress for that Annoying Itch

A very refreshing treatment to use is to soak a cold compress in essential oil in a cold compress. His will soothe itching, inflammation and red and sore skin. There is a very simple way to make a cold compress. Add a pint or more of freezing cold water to a pitcher and then add 4 or 5 drops of your favorite essential oil or oils to the water. Place your towel into the surface of the water allowing it to soak thoroughly. Take the towel out of the water and apply it to the affected skin area. Before you do this make sure you wring out any excess water. Hold the towel on the affected area for a minimum of 15 minutes to reduce redness, soreness, and swelling. Of course the itching will be reduced as well.

For older children and adults increase the amount of baking soda to the mix.
