How to Get Bigger Boobs Naturally and Without Surgery

(Last Updated On: August 12, 2019)

If you’ve got smaller breasts than you would like to have and are looking for natural ways to increase their size, then you’re not going to like what I’m about to tell you, and for that I sincerely apologize.

The only reliable way to increase your breast size naturally, is to increase your overall level of body fat. And since the majority of women are on an ongoing mission to lose body fat, this isn’t a realistic solution for anyone who isn’t currently underweight.

If you are one of the millions of teenage girls that are starving themselves down to an unhealthy size and you’re hoping for bigger breasts, I’ve got two words of advice for you. Eat food.

Take a minute to think about your aims here. If there were ways to get bigger breasts without surgery, only crazy people would subject themselves to the dangers and the pain of breast enlargement surgery, and to the snide comments that people feel free to make when they realise that a woman has had a boob job.

Body dissatisfaction is a horrible thing to live with, and it’s made worse by the constant parade in the media, on TV, on billboards  and on websites of breasts, breasts and more breasts. The overwhelming message is that breasts, preferably big ones, are the pinnacle of womanly perfection and that if you don’t have the kind of breasts that our (dysfunctional) society deems acceptable, then you’re not sexy and you’re less of a woman.

According to figures from the American Society For Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, there were almost 306,000 breast augmentation procedures and almost 150,000 breast lift procedures carried out in 2015.

The surgery figures are the tip of the iceberg though with many more women resorting to snake oil pills and other scams that claim to offer bigger breasts without surgery. We’ll take a look at the supplements on offer in this article and you can decide whether you want to try them out or not. We’ll also find out if there are any exercises that can help to give you bigger breasts.

Breast Composition

Breasts are made of glandular breast tissue and of fat, and it is the fat layer that gives breasts their softness.

Younger women tend to have denser breast tissue than older women, and as women age the amount of breast tissue decreases and the space is filled in with fat.

After menopause breasts sag because the connective tissue loses its strength.

Weight loss can result in a reduction in breast size as fat is lost from the breast, conversely weight gain can increase breast size.

Breast Enlargement Systems

Breast enlargement systems have been around for decades. Around 4 million women fell prey to advertising in 1976 and brought a pump system that promised them bigger breasts. The device cost $9.95 (about $42 in today’s money) and consisted of a foot pump, some plastic tubing and 3 cups in different sizes to place over the breasts.

The device resulted in bruising and no difference in breast size. The manufactures meanwhile swam around in big piles of ill gotten cash laughing themselves stupid.

People must have been so gullible back in the 1970’s mustn’t they! Gullible is probably too harsh a word to use so let’s go with hopeful instead. Today women are just as hopeful because vacuum devices are still marketed today. And unlike the fairly inexpensive system just mentioned, the best known suction system around today retails for a lot more money.

The manufacturers of the BRAVA system make the claim that their system has clinical proof of its efficacy. We can just raise our eyebrows at that one.

By exerting a constant 3 dimensional pull on breasts, tissue is put under tension and this supposedly causes breasts to respond by making new breast tissue.

According to BRAVA, the system generates “gradual and lasting breast tissue growth without surgery or the use of medications.” It’s said to be suitable for those with an A or B cup who want to see modest gains in breast size.

The BRAVA system consists of a bra that looks like a large, unflattering sports bra, 2 huge rigid domes that cover the breasts and an attached smart box that controls the suction.

The system costs around $2700 and promises breast enlargement of about 1 cup size (100cc) with 10 weeks of strict use.

You can Google for pictures if you want a laugh to cheer yourself up. The contraption looks ridiculous.

You need to wear the device for at least 10 hours per day for 10 weeks. And according to women who have used the system, it’s uncomfortable and many give up on it for that reason.

Users report that the cups are uncomfortable to wear, they cause sweating, rashes and stretch marks. Women also report disappointing results from the device.

Cosmetic surgeons are also unimpressed and offer the opinion that the device can only generate negligible growth that may be uneven and that any growth will be temporary.

Apparently the system as originally intended for use was pulled from the market and is now sometimes used as a pretreatment for breast enhancement using fat grafting.

IN 2014 the FDA issued a warning to the manufactures over failures to comply with federal regulations.

Used systems can be purchased from eBay (if you’ve got money to burn).

Verdict on suction systems – don’t bother.

Herbal Supplements And Creams

There are a variety of herbal supplements and creams on the market that women use hoping to stimulate breast growth.

These fall into 4 broad categories.

Phytoestrogens – including soy, red clover, flax seed, fennel, hops, and others.

Aphrodisiac herbs –  including damiana and oat straw.

Women’s herbs –  including motherwort, blessed thistle, black cohosh, and chasteberry.

General herbs –  palmetto and wild Mexican yam.

These types of products aren’t regulated by the FDA, and as long as they are accurately labeled for their ingredient content, the products can be sold without restriction and those selling them can make some pretty steep claims.

Type ‘breast enlargement supplements’ into an Amazon search and you’ll see what I mean.

Do these supplements work? It’s unlikely. And once again please bear in mind that if you could get bigger breasts by popping a daily herbal supplement, then 300,000 women a year wouldn’t put themselves through surgery.

When you look at the reviews for products like these, you’ll see a mix of glowing accounts and some very unhappy customers.

What could account for such disparity of outcomes?

Two words. Fake reviews. Although Amazon has begun to clean up some of the millions of fake reviews posted on its website, it still has a long way to go.

When you read reviews, always read the one stars reviews, as well as those with 5 stars.

Dr. Tod Cooperman, president of ConsumerLab, says that there is only tangential evidence (meaning slight and superficially relevant) that these supplements have any positive effect on breast growth.

Of the various herbs available, the phytoestrogens may have a method of action but they still aren’t a good choice.

Phytoestrogens mimic the action of the naturally produced estrogen in your body and estrogen is known to increase breast size, BUT because phytoestrogens bind to the same receptor sites as your natural estrogen, they can actually block your real estrogen and prevent its uptake which is the last thing that you want to happen because your own estrogen is much stronger than phytoestrogens and will do more for your breasts

Dr Cooperman explains that using phytoestrogens could even result in suppressed breast growth.

A study carried out by the Mayo Clinic into breast enhancing supplements found that there was no evidence that phytoestrogens increased breast tissue density or growth.

And researchers at George Washington University stated that “The use of bust-enhancing products should be discouraged because of lack of evidence for efficacy and long-term safety concerns.”

Safety concerns include the possibility of serious adverse drug reactions (should you be taking any prescription medications), and the triggering of allergies. Canadian researchers found that of 44 products that they tested over half of them contain unlisted ingredients. So even if you carefully study the ingredient labels you can’t always be sure of the supplements true contents.

They may even reduce the effectiveness of your birth control.

Would you trust any supplement that is marketed with false claims? I know that I wouldn’t. Snake oil is snake oil, whether it’s sold by a 1920’s huckster at the state fair or a 21st century supplement manufacturer on the internet.

What Does The FDA Say?

Quote –

“For decades, millions of dollars have been spent on devices, creams and lotions advertised as breast developers. All wasted. There is no device or system of exercise that will increase the size of the breasts. At best, devices promoted as breast developers merely strengthen and develop the muscles that support the breasts, and exercising these muscles will not appreciably increase breast size.”

Fat Grafting

Fat grafting is technically known as autologous fat transfer. This procedure removes fat tissue by liposuction, the fat is processed and then injected into the breast area.

This sounds like a win-win solution. Lose fat from where you don’t want it and pump it into small or saggy breasts to increase their size and improve their shape and appearance.

The appeal of the procedure is indeed broad, and fat grafting is a widely available treatment.

Fat grafting is minimally invasive, doesn’t require general anesthesia, involves small needle punctures instead of a scalpel, is carried out as an outpatient procedure, and the fat feels soft and natural (because it is) unlike implants.

The procedure can take up to 4 hours and the recovery time is around 2 weeks (sometimes longer).

The typical increase in size after one session is half a cup size and the maximum that can be achieved with a number of sessions is an increase of 2 cup sizes.

It’s not all good news however. Some doctors suggest that fat grafting could increase the risk of breast cancer. No large scale trials on the safety of the procedure have been carried out so far, and existing trials have tracked less than 100 women over 4 years, so the long term risks are completely unknown.

Other undesirable outcomes include the development of cysts, infections, and micro-calcifications that can be mistaken for breast cancer on mammograms.

There is also the fact that the fat tends to be reabsorbed over time, and as much of 40 – 60% of the volume of the fat graft can be lost.

Fat grafting isn’t a cheap option and costs around $5,000 and up.

The use of the previously mentioned BRAVA system allows for a larger volume of fat to be injected into the breast area.

If you decide that this procedure is an option for you, do your homework, make sure that you understand the risks, find an experienced cosmetic surgeon, and don’t have unrealistic expectations over the results.

Are There Any Breast Enlargement Exercises?

While breasts don’t have any muscle tissue that you can pump up by exercising, they do sit on top of the pectoral muscles in your chest, and those muscles can be enlarged.

Exercise won’t make a dramatic change, but you can get a little boost, naturally, safely and without wasting any money.

According to Michelle S. Olson, PhD, an exercise science professor at Auburn University, working your pecs can have an effect on breast size.

The exercises recommended to work the pecs involve weight reps and push ups. These exercises will also give you well toned arms and shoulders and increased core strength.

The weights that you use should be heavy enough to challenge you so that muscle growth takes place.

1. Dumbbell Bench Press

Lie face up on a work out bench with your arms straight up, holding a dumbbell in each hand.

Lower your arms until the dumbbells are close to the sides of your chest, then push them back up to the starting position.

That counts as one rep. Complete 10 reps, then move onto the next exercise.

2. Push Up

Begin on all fours, your palms flat on the floor and set slightly wider than your shoulders. Your feet close together, toes pressing into the floor. Arms should be straight and inline with your shoulders. Your body should form a straight line from head to toe

Lower your upper body down, bending your arms, until your chest almost touches the floor. Keep your upper arms at a 45-degree angle to your torso when you reach the lowest point.

Pause for a beat, then push yourself back up to the starting position.

Complete 10 push ups and then rest 90 seconds.

Now go back to the first exercise and do a set of 10 reps, followed by one more round of 10 push ups. Rest for 90 seconds then move onto to exercise 3.

3. Incline Dumbbell Bench Press

Sit on an adjustable workout bench that is set to a low incline of about 15 to 30 degrees. Sit with your feet placed flat on the floor.

Take a dumbbell in each hand and lift them up above your shoulders, keeping your arms straight. Slowly bring the weights down to the sides of your chest.

Hold for a beat, then push the dumbbells back up toward the ceiling.

That movement counts as one rep. Complete a set of 10 reps, then move on to the next exercise without taking a break.

4. Dumbbell Fly

Lie facing up on a workout bench with your feet flat on the floor.

With your elbows slightly bent, hold a pair of dumbbells above your shoulders.

Maintain the slight bend in your elbows and lower the weights until your elbows are even with your chest.

Push the weights back up, keeping the same bend in your elbows.

This is one rep, complete a set of 10 reps then rest for 90 seconds.

Repeat exercise 3 and 4, completing one more set of each.

And those are all of the options that you can try for non surgical breast enlargement. None are going to have any great effect, and as you have seen some come with hefty price tags and others with health concerns.

If you won’t consider cosmetic surgery because of safety concerns (and safety is a very valid concern) or you just can’t afford a breast enlargement procedure, then all that you can do is work on ways to accept the body that you have.

It may sound patronizing to suggest self acceptance, but at this point what other realistic choice do you have? Isn’t it better to be comfortable in your own skin than miserable?

You could start with this video which talks about beauty sickness.

Finally there are clothing choices that you can make to enhance your appearance.

The Wonderbra has been well loved for over 20 years for the cleavage enhancing effects that it easily delivers. Other types of paded bra can achieve a fuller look too.

You can find bikinis and bathing suits that are designed to make the most of smaller breasts without looking obviously padded.

Fillet inserts that you wear inside your bra can give you a big transformation and take you up a cup size in a matter of seconds. These inserts will run your around $30 for some good quality ones that give you a natural shape and natural movement.

Ultimately I can’t offer you any good natural solutions in your quest for bigger breasts (and neither can anyone else, despite some of the nonsense that you might read elsewhere), but I hope that I’ve saved you from wasting your time, your money and your hopes on snake oil.
