Look Years Younger with Eye Cream, and Get Paid to Use It!

When you’re tired, run down, and not sleeping well, it can show up on your face – GASP! Your mood becomes more dull, your skin become less lustrous, your eyelids start becoming heavier, and fine lines and wrinkles start to develop, everywhere. This, in turn, can start to make us look old, to put it bluntly. The Balance Me Beautiful lifestyle is all about looking and feeling your best, so we like to help you find healthy, natural ways to keep you looking lively, upbeat and youthful. It’s never too late to start integrating new beauty tips into your health and wellness lifestyle, and everyone at Balance Me Beautiful, is exactly, that – balanced and beautiful, at all ages. Taking care of the skin around your eyes will help you, but it’s an overall plan that makes it work – It’s never just one thing. What is happening on the inside, is always reflected on the outside. So, be sure to pay attention to your diet and your lifestyle.

That means, that you should try to eliminate or, at least, reduce your consumption of alcohol, drugs and cigarettes, which all contribute to skin problems. You also need to make sure you are getting enough sleep; Get in your eight to ten hours of restful, uninterrupted sleep, every day. You should be comfortable, as well, we don’t want a lot of tossing and turning when you turn in for the night. Dress your bed with the most comfortable linens, and sleep tight, with your head slightly elevated on a pillow. If you’ve been following us, you know that we recommend a silk pillowcase, not only for a luxurious, solid sleep, but also for great hair condition. Sleep on a silk pillowcase, not the cotton kind, and definitely not the kind you buy off some lame-o tv ad; all you need is a pillowcase, so don’t ever be fooled by useless hype. A silk case helps to prevent your hair from catching on the fabric, and falling out during the night, and it’s also softer on your skin. It works. Try it! You’ll also have a better sleep. Where did we say that before…Oh yeah, here!

Upon waking, never rub your eyes; all that does is cause damage beneath your skin, resulting in dark circles and bags. The only bags you want to have in your life are the shopping kind (more on that later)! Be careful with your cleansing routine, as well, especially when removing mascara and eye make up. It’s really important that you use a good, eye make up remover, and when you are choosing skin care products for your eyes, especially, this is the place to splurge, a bit (We have some recommendations for products, coming up – Get your bags out!). The reason being, is that the area around your eyes is one of the first places you will start to show your age. Good skin care should begin as soon as a young girl enters her teenage years (i.e. as soon as she turns 13), and last forever. These beauty secrets, will help her to preserve her skin; so, Moms and Dads with daughters, who are reading this, that’s when you introduce, healthy skin care habits.

Here’s the way to do it!

A good skin care routine is necessary, and it should involve three, basic steps. Daily skin care should involve cleanser, toner and moisturizer, weekly skin care should include exfoliating treatments, and monthly skin care should include masks (not the Halloween kind because scaring people is so over).

Cleanser

You can find a great, starter kit from Dermalogica that will have a lot of the products you need, for your healthy, skin care routine. Start with a Cleanser, and slather a generous amount, to cover your face, as well as your neck. When applying your skincare products, use very, gentle pressure, so as not to pull on your skin. You don’t want your cleansing routine to result in stretched, wrinkled skin. Using your fingertips, massage the cleanser into your skin, in a circular, upward and outward, motion. Gently remove the cleanser by splashing water over your face, over a sink, or use a soft, wet, face cloth, and remove the cleanser the same way you applied it – circular, upward and out.

Toner

Follow up with a really, nice toner. This should be gentle on your skin, never harsh or drying. When using skin care products, it’s a good idea to choose products that are all from the same line. They are designed to work together, to provide the best benefit to your skin. Try this toner by Dermalogica. Toner application should follow the same pattern as we used in the first step; Using a cotton ball or a cotton makeup remover pad, apply some of the product to the cotton, and start at the base of your neck, circular, upward and out, toward the top of your hairline, until your skin feels clean, and any leftover cleanser has been completely, removed. This prevents your pores from becoming clogged, which, ultimately, results in blackheads and blemishes.

Moisturizer

Moisturizer

This is the most important step, as moisturizer is your skin’s best friend! It’s like drinking water; You get the same effect, but it’s for the outside of your body, this time. You will feel hydrated and refreshed, after you apply this to your skin, and it completes your skin care routine for the day. By the way, you should use the three step routine, both day and night. We won’t recommend a moisturizer from the line for this one because the starter kit already contains some. However, you also need to find a really, good, eye cream that works best with your skin. For preventing aging lines, and crows feet, you need a good eye cream like the one in this kit. You will also find a great eye makeup remover in this kit too – We highly recommend it. When you apply your eye cream, it is very important to use only your second last finger, or your pinky, so that you don’t use too much pressure. The skin around your eyes is very thin, and delicate, and you don’t want to cause wrinkles, in the very process of trying to prevent them!

If you want to get started, right away with your at home salon, that’s probably a full service salon by now, if you’ve been reading with us, we can provide you with some delicious, facial formulas that are good enough to eat! -1/2 Cup Rolled Oats

-1/2 Cup Strawberries

-1 Tbsp Sugar

-Juice of One Lemon

Directions: Blend the Strawberries together with the lemon juice. Remove from blender, and stir in the Oats and Sugar. Store in a sealed container, and refrigerate, to keep from spoiling.

DIY Strawberry Firming Face Mask

This face mask is a great way to try out a mask, if you’re new to using them. You only need to use a firming mask, once per week. This one isn’t as firm as most, store bought products, but it will work if you don’t have any store bought treatments, on hands. Leave the mask on, until your skin feels tight. These are great for firming and smoothing your skin, and they also help to minimize larger, sized pores.

Recipe

-1/2 Cup Strawberries

-1/4 Cup Honey

Directions: Blend together in a blender, until smooth. You should have just enough here, for one mask. You don’t want any leftovers because they would spoil before you next use.

For Your Eyes Only

Here is our list of 9 Potent Remedies for Sagging Eyelids

DIY Eyes – Here are a couple more do it yourself recipes for firming eye treatments. Try mixing 1 Tbsp each of Olive Oil and Coconut Oil. You can also mix 1 Tbsp of Olive Oil into 1 Tbsp of Vaseline. Carefully, dab the thick cream around your outer eye, only, being careful not to get too close to your eye. Leave the treatment on for about 15min. (or as long as you can stand it – it’s heavy and thick, and it might not be your cup of tea, just yet, if you’re not used to it). Rinse it off gently with water, and a soft face cloth. Remember, never pull at the delicate skin around your eyes. Follow up by applying some Vitamin E; you can leave this on all day.

Ananas

That’s French for Pineapple! Puree some pineapple in a blender, and mix with some Olive Oil, to make a treatment, that you can apply to your skin, and wash off. Otherwise, cut some Pineapple slices, and give yourself the spa treatment. These are a great complement to your firming, face mask, and you can lie down while you’re waiting for the mask to firm. The pineapple slices are laid over your eyes, and they will help to tighten up this area of your face!

Avocados

Avocados

You can cut crescent shaped slices to sit underneath your eyes, and you can also apply them in the opposite direction, above your eyes. Have fun with these. The healthy oils in avocados are really good for your skin, you should eat them, and you can also use them topically, for you skin. The slices are great, especially if you have avocados that are over-ripe. You can try blending them with Olive Oil, for a wash off treatment, too. Quick Tips: For avocados that are too hard to slice, place them in a paper bag overnight, to help them ripen more quickly.

Honey

We like to have honey, on hand, as a natural, health & wellness product because it’s made from our cute, little bee friends, and it tastes great! It’s great as a health food, that works wonders for your skin, and serves to tighten, heal and brighten, when left on for any duration of time. You can use it in a mask, as suggested above, or you can apply it on its own too. Dab a bit of it around your eyelids, and leave it on until it starts to feel tight. Then, gently wash it away, with a soft washcloth and some warm water. Honey helps to improve the condition of your skin, and we like adding it to our tea, on a daily basis – 1 Tbsp., that’s all you need.

Cucumbers

This is the age old secret, that’s been around for years. This is the first one your Mom tells you about, when you start to learn about skin care. For fun spa days, cut some slices, refrigerate them, and lie down with the slices over top of your closed, resting eyes. You can also use these along with a mask, and they make great spa days between parents and children, which can help you bond, on weekends when you are spending a lot of time together. You will wake up from your fifteen minute to half hour rest, feeling refreshed and fabulous! With the remaining cucumber, we suggest preparing a delicious cucumber salad to share.

Hemorrhoid Cream

Ok, we know this one’s not so glamorous, and everyone has a laugh when it’s mentioned, but really – It works! What’s meant to shrink and minimize the appearance of something else, also works on your eyes. You can buy it specifically for this purpose, and it’s also a good story to have when you’re in the drug store, and you run into an inconvenient moment, product in hand. Hemorrhoid Cream, of all things, really helps to tighten your skin, and it will actually work wonders to shrink the skin around your eyes, back to its original firmness – YES!

Eliminate Coffee

Coffee is not so good for you. We know, we know, this is a hard one to take; We were disappointed too. Honestly, just hearing the word right now, and we want to go pour ourselves a cup(pa). That’s how dependent we have become on this morning stimulant. Bad News – Coffee is terrible for your skin; it’s a cup of toxins, really. If you take an observational inventory of heavy, coffee drinkers, and you’ll know who they are because they always have their mugs with them, you will almost always notice puffy, bags under their eyes. Quick Tips: Switch to Tea.

Tea Bags

Speaking of tea, tea bags also work for reducing the appearance of lines, as well as shrinking bags, and puffy, sagging skin around your eyes. Once you are finished with your morning cup of tea (make an extra large one with two tea bags), or especially if it’s early evening, remove the tea bags from your cup (actually do this part first, before drinking it), and apply one tea bag to each of your eye lids. You will need to cool the tea bags first, and you can put them into the fridge for a bit, beforehand. These really help with puffiness because tea is a diuretic, so it has the same effect, if applied topically.

Potato Slices

Potato slices are another one of nature’s spa tricks, and they are said to act as an astringent, which remove impurities from the skin around your eyes. We recommend trying these to quickly get rid of styes, if you struggle with them. Also, see your doctor to determine if you have allergies, if you are experiencing them on a regular basis. Applied as spa veggies, they will clean the skin around your eyes, removing any toxins that might be irritating your skin. Potatoes are also high in Potassium, and you can use potassium rich banana peels in the same way, too; Cut out eye shaped pieces using scissors.
