11 Ways to Lose That Dreaded Double Chin

Whoa! I was born with one chin now I have two. How did this happen and how do I get rid of it?

Millions upon millions of people are asking this very same question all over the world. They are surprised to one day look in the mirror and see they have two chins instead of one. This is known  officially as “double chin.” There are ways to get rid of a double chin and shortly we will discuss those methods you can use to get rid of that double chin. For instance, if you drink lots of water it will help keep the double chin at bay. You must drink at least 8-10 cups of water everyday. More should be consumed when you exercise or if the weather calls for it.

Drinking water helps to reduce water retention which helps to cause a double chin. It also speeds up the metabolism which stimulates weight loss. Also, eat foods that contain water such as cucumbers, melons, celery and lettuce.     

How Double chins are formed

There are a few factors that contribute to double chin. Actually, double chin is an extra layer of fatty tissue underneath the chin. Being overweight and age are two reasons for double chin developing. Aging causes the skin to lose its elasticity and a double chin will form. You can have an expensive surgical procedure performed but this will knock your finances out of the park. Another dominating factor for double chin is genetics.Just because one has a double chin, it doesn’t mean they are getting old. People who have double chins look in the mirror thinking  the double chin staring back at them is due to aging. This is not always the case. Overweight people also form double chins because of all the extra weight they carry on their bodies. Even if they lose weight it doesn’t guarantee the double chin will go with the weight loss. We will discuss cost effective home remedy measures that you can use to eliminate that double chin. There are many ways to get rid of the double chin without having to spend a lot of money.


Wheat Germ a Robust Source for Vitamin E (Vitamin E Great for Double Chin Roll Away)

Wheat germ is not only healthy to be incorporated into your diet but it contains vitamin E. The main element to remove a double chin, in wheat germ, is Vitamin E. Wheat germ oil is extracted from the wheat kernel and only accounts for 2.5 % of the weight of the kernel. Wheat germ is also the highest source for vitamin E among foods that haven’t been prepared beforehand or undergone vitamin fortification. Vitamin E helps immensely in reversing the effects of photoaging ( The skin is exposed to excessive ultraviolet radiation at a constant rate of 300-400 nm through synthetic or organic light sources resulting in photoaging because of this over exposure. Photoaging speeds up the process of aging of skin that is already intrinsically aged.)  Photoaging will speed up the formation of a double chin.

Massage your skin in an upward direction  before you go to bed with wheat germ oil. Apply this treatment until you see observable improvement in the reduction of the double chin.  

Consume foods that are sources in vitamin E such as green leafy vegetables, legumes, dairy products, beans, barley, brown rice, nuts, seeds, peanuts, and soybeans all contain abundant sources of vitamin E. Also, get a vitamin E capsule puncture it and apply the oil directly to the double chin.

Green Tea increases skin elasticity which is key to returning your double chin to normal. It also contains a number antioxidants called polyphenols which fight free radicals. Honey Melon

Honey melon contains vitamin C which helps fight photoaging. Vitamin C works effectively when applied topically to reduce and prevent damage caused by photoaging, which we said earlier, speeds up the process of double chin formation.(Vitamin C in its present form is too unstable to apply internally for therapeutic purposes. The search is on to find a stable vitamin C that can be applied internally. Once this is achieved vitamin C should be able to destroy the effects of double chin formation even more efficiently.) So, peel and grind the melon into juice. Apply the juice to your face and neck using a cotton ball and leave the juice on your face and neck for 20 minutes. Apple Juice can be added to help in the double chin removal process. Consuming melon will help as well.


Massage the Double Chin away with Milk Cream

Milk Cream contains calcium and vitamin D which will help fight  which contributes to double chin formation. Moisturize your face with milk cream and massage for a couple of minutes. Clean the milk mask with lukewarm water after 10 minutes.

What do you mean chew that double chin away? Buy yourself some sugar-free chewing gum and start chewing it everyday. Why would you chew gum everyday. It’s important to tone your facial muscles to prevent the skin from drooping and causing a double chin. The gum will keep those chin muscles toned and looking firm. This a cost-effective way to exercise your jaw muscles. A side note sugar-free chewing gum will promote healthy gums and teeth. What do you have to lose? You are getting a double benefit.


There is More to Eggs than just Eating Them

Believe it or not egg whites are good for more than just healthy eating. They play a very important role in maintaining skin elasticity because of the proteins they contain. This is vital to preventing double chin from occurring. Egg whites not only reduce double chin but they keep the skin firm. Prepare a homemade face pack of egg whites, epsom salt and vinegar. Formulate these ingredients into a paste. Apply the paste to your chin using a cotton ball. Keep your eyes on the mirror looking for amazing results that will follow.


Jaw Jut that Double Chin Away

This is a physical remedy to eliminate double chin. This exercise identified as the jaw jut will help you get rid of your double chin. Start by tilting your head back and looking toward the ceiling. Next, pull your lower jaw forward until you feel it stretching. Now, hold the” jaw jut” position for a count of ten. Relax your jaw and return your head to the normal  position. Do this 10 times and you will see results. That double chin will get smaller. Let’s explore some other facial exercises that can help eliminate a double chin.

The tongue press is an effective little exercise to make double chin slowly disappear. (You see the tongue has more uses than just talking.) Start by standing with your back and neck straight keeping your body at a 180 degree angle. Look up by raising your head skyward. Next, press the tongue against the roof of the mouth. Without rounding your upper back, lower the chin towards  the chest. Now slowly return to the original position by straightening the neck and relaxing the tongue.

Moving on to the neck rotation, the neck muscles become loosened by lack of exercise. This will lead to extra fat building up in the chin which results in a double chin. Do the neck rotation twice a day to quickly remove the double chin. Here’s how: Start by facing straight forward with your arms in front of you. Keep the elbows straight and clasp your hands together to stop your shoulders from elevating. Turn your neck so your chin rotates toward your shoulder. Hold this position for about 10-30 seconds. Do about 25 of these a day and in no time you will say “What double chin?”.

So get a tennis ball and no we aren’t going to go out and play tennis. This is the tennis ball exercise. This is another vital exercise for you to do so you can get rid of the double chin. Place a tennis ball on your neck so your chin can hold it tight. Now, firmly press the ball with your chin. Release the ball slowly. Do this exercise at least 10 times.

The next exercise is called the pout and tilt. The beauty of this exercise is that you can do it anywhere in a sitting or standing position. Form a pout with the lower lip by sticking it out. Next, place a finger on the chin so it feels wrinkly. Hold onto this position for several seconds. Keeping your lips out, lower your chin to your chest without allowing your upper back to lean. Hold this position for  a few seconds then return to the original position. To really have an impact you should do 2 sets of 20 reps each. Do these sets everyday and say goodbye to your double chin.

Let’s try the side neck stretch. Are you ready?  Hang in there this one is a little more complicated. Start by sitting down on the floor and keeping your one hand down, away from your hips around your foot. Slowly raise the other hand and take it around to the other side in a way that the hand wraps around  the top of your head. Now use your palm to press the head towards the shoulder. Take your other hand off the floor and place it on the upper arm. Hold on this position for ten seconds then repeat it on the other side of your body. Repeat this exercise 10 times.

Ok, let’s try the jaw dropper. Sit straight and move your jaws up and down like you were chewing, but make sure your lips remain closed so your chin muscles get the necessary stretch. While doing this breathe deeply and exhale slowly. The whole exercise will take about 90 seconds.

This exercise has a humorous name because it’s called the jaw push/ pigeon face. Let’s get rolling with it! Put your thumb behind your jaw bone on one side of your jaw. Next, place your index finger on the other side of the jaw in the same place and gently press. So, go ahead and slowly push forward holding on for 30 seconds. Three reps of this exercise are enough to do for one day. But be sure you do this exercise everyday.

Now, we will do the head lift. Lie down straight on your bed  face-up. Keep your neck on the edge of the bed. Contract the muscles at your neck’s front. Now, lift your head to your chest while keeping your  shoulders flat on the bed. Hold this position for 10 seconds then slowly return to the original position. Only do three sets of two reps each. Be sure you take breaks between each rep to prevent dizziness. This is a lot of work but the results will be worth it. You won’t have a double chin any longer.   


Cocoa Butter Ahoy 

Cocoa Butter contains polyphenols (We found out earlier these are antioxidants) which improves skin elasticity in the face and reduces the extra fat on your face which produces the double chin.

Warm a couple of tablespoons of cocoa butter in the microwave. Apply it to the face by massaging it into the chin area. Repeat this skin treatment twice a day once in the morning and at night before you retire for bed.


Explosive Glycerin 

Glycerin improves skin elasticity so it is crucial to use to it get rid of a double chin. This will sound like an unusual mixture but it will give you results. Mix one tbsp. of glycerin with a couple of drops of peppermint oil and  a half tbsp of epsom salt. (Boy this epsom salt pops up in the oddest places.) Apply the pack to your chin and neck area for about  two minutes. (This will get rid of the double chin. It will take some time but it will do the job.) Use this solution 4 to 5 times a week.


Olive Oil will prevent Double Chin    

Olive oil contains many antioxidants that will hold free radicals in check. Free radicals cause many damaging conditions in the human body. Massage with warm olive oil for 20 minutes around the neck and chin area. The olive oil will keep the saggy double chin away.

Guess what? Chamomile is a natural skin moisturizer that contains levomenol which has anti-inflammatory properties that help maintain skin elasticity. Chamomile is a plant that works effectively to eliminate that double chin.


Some tips to get you there


  • Always stand and sit straight to keep your neck muscles tight.
  • Pay attention to what you eat and follow a healthy diet with limited calorie intake.
  • Include weight training and cardio exercises in your daily routine.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Sleep on a thin pillow.


  • Slouching will increase double chin and the worst part it will make it permanent. Avoid slouching to get rid of chin fat quickly.
  • Don’t drink tea, coffee, alcohol or carbonated drinks.
  • While massaging your double chin with warm oils only use upward strokes. If you use downward strokes it will cause skin sagging and wrinkles.


The Final Word

It is a common misconception that once you develop a double chin that you will have to live with it for the rest of your life. You know it’s part of the aging process. But this is flawed logic because there are many exercises and treatments you can use to prevent double chin from occurring. Or you can eliminate double chin by using the methods and exercises we discussed in detail in this article.

Don’t ever give up hope that you have to live with a double chin for life. If you just follow the suggestions and tips put forward here you will either not have to worry about developing a double chin. You are the master of your own fate. You do have the power and resources to change that double chin or never let it develop in the first place.
